“Dry and dusty as hot summer’s day, with old horse tack swinging in the breeze … here’s a Sangio set to make Chianti jealous in the way it’s unswervingly focused and determined to be Clare. Or Watervale, to be more precise.
The palate follows that aromatic line straight and true. It’s lean and puckery and pointed straight at that bistro/brasserie table with the big glasses. It makes me hungry as much as talkative. Don’t talk with your mouth full, Philip.
Any sort of rustic antipasto or tapas will swing with this fine, austere, deliciously appetising intensity. Ping!”

James Halliday, www.winecompanion.com.au

“Reillys certainly knows how to build them big, but counterintuitively the intensity comes from the fruit flavours every bit as much as the tannins. For those lusting after a Sangiovese to accompany bistecca fiorentina, this is the go.”

The Adelaide Review HOT 100 WINES 2015

“Juicy and bouncy fruit, terrific acid line, and a very fine tannin framework. Feels chalky and savoury despite the richness of fruit. A neat balancing act.”

“Spicy blackberry characters with excellent savoury elements. Subtle aromas, soft lingering flavours, and nice tannin structure.”

Dan Traucki, freelance wine journalist, published 7th Feb 2016 on www.facebook.com/dan.traucki
“Beautiful purple colour, aromas of cherries and berries, vibrant crisp palate with oodles of cherry flavours and some earthy tones, lingers for ages on the finish. A great Aussie Sangio”.

Jason Miller, Que-Syrah, published 15th April 2016, www.que-syrah.com/reillys-sangiovese/
“It’s always good to see a wine that tastes like the variety is supposed to. Not just some wishy-wash dry red from the South-eastern part of a continent. The Reilly’s Dry Land Sangiovese is true to label. On the nose there ripe dark fruit, but supported by hints of savoury black tea and a herbal sage edge. On the palate lots of acidity, and lovely sour cherries. Again more savoury black tea characters. Tannins are textural but don’t dominate. While it’s a medium-bodied Sangiovese, it does have a touch 5% of Cabernet Sauvignon to probably give it a little more body. But you know it’s a Sangiovese with the usual characteristics there.”
